Family Night!

We were going to head to the ocean this weekend to check out some sand sculptures. Instead we decided to save some money and just stick around here at home. We are getting family pictures taken next weekend (which I'm so excited about!) so it just worked better with the budget to lay low. So we dubbed Saturday afternoon/evening family time. Usually we do family night and snuggle up with a movie after the day....but we decided to start early today. After spending a gorgeous afternoon outside playing with the neighbors (Todays weather was amazing!!! a lil warm in the sun, but in the shade with the nice breeze and not feeling so humid...it was great!) We headed in side to "hunker" down around 3:30. We cleaned up our grubs...aka...kids, and had dinner a little early. We ... ok I, decided fried chicken sounded so good. So Ryan headed out to grab us some healthy southern fried chicken while I got the kids cleaned up. We tried some Bojangles chicken tonight. It was our first time...we enjoyed it. It's a lil spicy, but good, and the fake mashed potatoes, YummY! ;) I was looking forward to gravy too, until I opened it and remembered...oh yeah, we are in the south, it's white! Call me a traditional northern girl... but I love my brown gravy. Oh well, it was still good.

The kids then worked off their dinner by tackling daddy while I cleaned up the chicken. After a good family wrestling match I figured it was time to set up the Ice Cream Sundae Bar. Bryn and I stocked up on some good toppings the other day while we were out, and today was the perfect time to pile them all on!

Missa was very focused! While everyone else had a huge messy concoction...she had everything perfectly placed on her pretty lil sundae!

I think it's safe to say the sundaes were a success and also very delicious...maybe a lil' messy, but so worth it!

Finally, movie time! Bellies fully of fattening goodness ;) and everyone clean and snuggly...We watched Inspector Gadget 2. In my opinion, the fried chicken and ice cream sundaes were much better than the movie....but the kids liked it, so that's what counts!

I got to go out to dinner tonight with my husband and no kids! What a concept. We sat at the bar, got a drink and just conversed. We got a table, ordered some food, and ate it while it was still warm! We drove in a circle....literally.
All the towns around here (well, most anyway) have Circles. I was very confused when we first moved here. Someone was trying to explain how to get somewhere, and said, "If you go past the circle you went too far" Hmmmm, I don't remember a rotary?? "A What??" they would say... Oh bother.....we were all lost on different pages.... I was looking for a rotary and they were on a circle. A road that circled the entire downtown area. It's interesting. Anyway......
He hadn't seen the local high school yet, so I had him drive through the campus. These southern high schools and their football....That is one impressive stadium. I should have taken a picture, maybe next time. The school itself is like a small college. HUGE! Now he is on a mission to take Kale Man to a football game. He would love it! Man, I would love to go see one!
so, surprisingly, our date did not include a trip to Walmart!! Seriously, usually we end our date nights with that, or a Target run....but nope, not tonight. Just drinks, dinner, a drive and stalking a high school football stadium. I tried to convince him to go make out under the bleachers, but it was all fenced off. Probably for the best, wouldn't look to good for an Officer in Aviation training and his wife trespassing. Dang it for no fun! ;)
The big girls are having a sleep over with a friend tonight, so Kale Man and Missa got to hang out with "Unckie Clay" Who volunteered his time so we could get out for a little bit. What a guy! He loves the kids, and the kids love him....obviously, hence the "Unckie Clay" they have officially adopted him! He's a great guy in Ryans class here, and he has a great family too. God has a way of connecting you with the right people...we will be friends for life. We met, hung out, and it was like we had all always been best friends. :) They are the ones who teach our Missa to say things like..."Ya'll"
What the rest of the weekend holds... who knows. It is supposed to rain, maybe just some good ol' lazy family time
