sweating, bleeding and not happy.....coffee?? Tequila!!?

UGGG....and the morning started off so well too. With smiles and Mumu's  bread. She sent it to us and we were able to enjoy some for breakfast. She makes the most amazing Nissu (Finnish coffee bread).

Apparently the smiles were swallowed with the bread :( One 8 year old had a melt down right before walking out the door to school..."I don't feel good, I don't want to go to school..." She has a little cold... no fever, no belly ache...she's fine! Thankfully her sister was a good girl and headed off to school. I go back in to talk to the other one and find out what's really up. "I don't feel good"...I then explain there will be no tv, no computer, and she will get in her jammies and spend the day in bed to get better. MmmHmmm yeah that went over fantastic. It then turned to.."I don't like tests and lots of work" Uggg....get your butt to school. She was mad, but ready to join her sister on her walk.
WELP, sis, had already made it around the corner and found her friends to walk with....so we power walked....yep...me, her, her brother who had about 12 minutes until his bus was coming, and the 3 year old in her jammies carrying her bowl full of Nissu. Oh did I mention I haven't brushed my teeth, or my hair and now im a sweaty mess pretty close to literally dragging three kids down the street. Cute!
Now she's mad again, because her sister is way too far ahead (mind you it's a very short walk to school overall...) we are half way there...her sister is crossing the road to the school.."Now she's already across, I can't catch up... it's not fair!!" GRRRRRR..... we turn around, I tell everyone to run.... Missa's legs aren't long enough and she still has that bowl of Nissu..she's saying "I'm sorry momma, I didn't brush my teeth"...Oh baby it's not your fault, your fine...as I scoop her up and walk as fast as I can, instructing everyone to get right into the car and buckle up, we are dropping her off.
We now have about 7 minutes until the bus comes for the boy....
I tell him to grab his socks and sneakers (he was wearing flip flops) and backpack and put them on in the car. We head out on the drive that should take about 3 minutes there and back... and we get stuck at the light and the crossing guard. "Oh Lord help me this morning please before I have a mental breakdown!!"
Thankfully the 8 year old composes herself and manages a smile before getting out of the car when we finally make it to the drop off line. (As much as I was angry with the situation... I hate leaving them upset)
we get back to the house in time for me to grab a hat, you know now that im a sweaty mess, and my hair that just loves humidity has sprung up in every direction. We get to the bus stop with about a minute to spare. (How I have no idea.... by the grace of God is the only answer!) I try not look at or breath on any neighbors as we stand there.
Off goes the bus with the boy on it...PHEW...we did it. Ok Missa lets go fix our hot sweaty selves... Oh wait THAT would be too easy at this point...what would be way more fun?? Missa kicking her flip flops into the middle of the road and trying to run off the other way because she thought a walk with the neighbor in the middle of this hot mess of a morning would be way more fun. That's where the bleeding comes into play...trying to scoop her off the road and carry her home kicking and screaming, I scrapped my knuckles.
And you wonder why I mention tequila!? Don't worry, I'll settle for coffee ;)
Enjoy your day!

Primary Flight Family Day

Despite a little mist, (and a minor melt down by a certain little Missa), We really enjoyed Family Day.

The weather lately has been a bit WET....and the chances of stuff in the tropics turning into a hurricane just brought more and more of that wet stuff over the past few days. I'd be lying if I said I haven't somewhat enjoyed it though. It's been incredibly hot here, (not typical August in Alabama hot...so they say) But HOT.... open the door and it smacks you in the face hot....stand still outside and watch your kid ride their bike for 5 minutes, while sweat drips down your back hot...grossly hot! SO, I am enjoying  this rain and a bit cooler temps :)
Friends back at home thought I was crazy when I posted a FB comment about burning my fall scented candle..HAHA..They replied with things like "Hey it's still summer!" Look friends, it's been summer for this NH girl since the second I stepped out of the car here back in January!! Im over it!

Anyway...... Family day did not get rained out. WOOHOO! We met here on post at the museum where we then followed "that army guy", as the kids called him, out to the stage field. We parked and watched the (as the kids call them.....) "practice helicopters" ;) HAHA, this is where Ryan yells..."It's a REAL helicopter!!! It's called a TH-67!!!!" To clear the air, and make everyone happy, we will just go with what Bryn calls them.... Helicockers!

Slowly they began to fly in, 2 came in and circled around, then 3 more off in the distance came in, then a few more, and more...until the field was filled with helicockers.
~Ryan is 99C~

It was really cool to watch, kinda gave you the chills. Just knowing they were all our pilots, showing us what they do on a daily flying basis. It was great. Up, down, around, stop to re-fuel, up again. and a lot of hovering. Really neat to watch. The kids were able to check out the control room at the top of the tower. There was a catwalk around the outside too which they loved.

It was really cute to see the kids waiting at the fence for their daddy to land and come see them.

They had a spread of food for us too, of course the kids had all eaten lunch already so they attacked the cupcakes and chips while mom tried to get as many pictures and videos as possible! I know they were so excited to see daddy fly, but secretly I think they came for the cupcakes. ;)

It was a small area to watch from but there were some bleachers where the kids could sit and watch them fly and do their thing. Once situated with their sweets, they were quite content watching all the action.

Then it was time to switch out. Each helicopter has two pilots and the I.P. (Instructor Pilot)...Daddy was landing and his stick buddy was going to have his turn showing off. The kids were eager to greet daddy.

Then it was time to check theses helicockers out! This was by far the kids favorite part. Sure it was fun watching daddy do his thing, but now it was their turn to sit in one of these bad boys!

Family picture time...yep, you guessed it...this is where lil Missa's meltdown came into play. Of course. She did not want to get out of that thing. So we thought we were smart working her into our picture through the window. We did manage to get a shot of her happily peeking through earlier...so we thought she would be game...

Boy were we wrong! She refused to look through the window and smile. We even recruited another pilot (a friend of ours) to hold her up in there....she used to be quite fond of him, i'm not sure now. Eh, she'll get over it! He'll be back to "Unckie Clay" in no time.

Speaking of "Unckie Clay" We couldn't finish the day without getting a shot of the two knuckleheads...ummm I mean Pilots, together.

We enjoyed it! As we have enjoyed all memories we have made so far here at Rucker. It's been quite the trip!

Here are a couple video links, hopefully they work ;)......

Firsts....

The past few days have been full of first for us...
The kids had their first day of school on Tuesday. I know... crazy right, it's only the beginning of August! YEP, August 6th was the first day! I get it though, we got out a little earlier, and the holiday breaks are longer, not to mention every wed. is an early release day. (Not 1/2 day... but a little earlier than the other days) so it does make sense. It is still hard to wrap my head around packing school lunches already though!
The girls first day of 3rd grade, seriously.. 3rd grade! They are getting so grown up, they don't even hesitate anymore when heading off to school like they did the first few years. It makes it easier, but it's also a bit sad.
Our little man is in Kindergarten!!! ALL day!!!!! Holy moly! The thought of all day kindergarten used to scare me more than it does now... I think mostly because before he was only going to preschool 2 days a week and half a day. Then we moved here and preschool was everyday, still half day... but 5 days, AND he took the bus! He is also older than the girls were at this point since his birthday is in Nov. and they are July.. he has almost a year on them as far as when they were in kindergarten. He is SOO ready for all day, and he is eating it up. Man packing a lunch is way cool!! ;) He loves it. I was used to sending him off on the bus, so that part was ok, but I did get teary thinking he would be going all day like the big girls. Ahhhhh my babies need to stop growing!
Everyone asks me if Bryn is going to preschool. Of course there are days I wish she was! ;) But in reality, she is my baby and im going to let her be my baby for another year.. I am not going to rush her off. She will go to preschool next year when she is 4 going on 5, because she too has a Nov. birthday. For now we will enjoy our time. I will also enjoy not having to pick up a child or meet a bus in the middle of the day for the first time in 3 years! No first for that one yet... or we could say it's her first year having mommy to her self all day while the kids are in school ;)

But the kids aren't the only ones who had firsts! Daddy did too... he had his first check ride, which he passed! :) It is basically a test in flight to make sure you know your stuff. (yeah that sums it up) The next day...(today)..he had his first solo flight!! That was nerve wracking!! Him? yeah he was probably nervous.... but Im talking about me! I knew he would do fine, he is good at what he is doing and knows his stuff, when he does something he gives it 110% with no holding back...he had this! However, that doesn't mean I didn't hold my breath until I got that text from him... the one that read "Solo completed and I'm alive" HAHA yup! :) he did great, and so did his stick buddy, Thankfully!!!

This week of first has been busy, and also full of thinking.... I'm just glad it's almost over and we will be relaxing in the warm Gulf waters again! In the words of Bryn..."FOOF!" that's done, let's go to the beach!
