Easter low key

We had a very low key Easter this year... like last year we spent it just the 6 of us, our lil family going no where, just hanging out. We honestly didn't even make it to church. Which kinda saddens me, but on the other hand, church isn't about making sure you get there on the "holidays". We typically do go to church on Sunday's, however the past few weeks have been tough, with advance flight school and night flying and flight plans and lots of studying, we haven't ventured out as much. Anyway, my point is, Easter is obviously only around because of the obvious... Jesus died on the cross and was resurrected for us! For that I am so thankful and feel so blessed..... man if it weren't for that one awesome fact right there, who knows if my family would be where we are today!?!?! Right!?!?! 
So..... anyway..... my story here is, we stayed home and laid low and enjoyed each other. We cooked (I cooked ;) ) a delicious ham dinner with some tasty fixings... The Easter bunny did stop by, but as usual, kept it pretty low key. Which is how we like it ;) he hid some eggs before he left too, so we started our morning with an egg hunt....well.... AFTER they tore apart their baskets to find their treats! 
We watched some movies, played our new card game "ratuki", if you don't have it, I suggest you run right out and purchase it! It's quite the fun lil card game and it's great for all ages as long as they know their numbers from 1-5. Honestly, I can see Ryan and I playing alone after they are in bed some time too ;) It's fun! We ate our dinner, we played outside for a bit and we relaxed. Really a good day over all! 

Our day hiking

Last Saturday we took a drive over to Georgia to hike Providence Canyon. http://gastateparks.org/ProvidenceCanyon
What a beautiful place! There is a great picnic area with lot's of views of the canyons. 

There are 2 trail options, the longer one is 7 miles and you can not do this trip unless you register for it. I guess it takes at least 8 hours to make the entire trip. Then there is the 3 mile trail, which is what we did. The loop goes around the canyons, and along the trail there are pathways leading off into 7 or 8 different canyons. Very neat! There were benches along the main trail which was nice with 4 young kids. 

The colors in the canyon were amazing. Mostly clay and so many different layers. 

This is in one of the canyons...we followed a path in which was quiet WET from all the rain we had the week before...the kids climbed up onto some of the clay boulders and Daddy taught survival skills as he looked for edible leaves and fed them to us! 

And, like I said... it was a bit wet, and muddy.....

We followed ALL the rules and regulations......

We had a great day! We look forward to our next hiking day trip. Family time is a blessing, and we are checking out all the places we can while we are down in the deep south!

Canyon cars.....

We went hiking today at a Canyon in G.A. ... I plan on blogging about that & sharing the pictures of course, but first these cars....

About half way around the canyon trail there is an old homestead plot. Before the Canyons became known as a national park there were obviously some houses out there. We didn't see any traces of the homes, however these cars (or whats left of the cars..) were scattered through out the area. We thought they were pretty neat. 

You can sorta read the sign in one of the photos, they say that removing the cars would do more damage than helping at this point. Animals nest and take cover in them now. Which is why they leave them out there. (Not to mention it would likely be a real pain in the rear to get them out of there) ;)

We enjoyed checking out these old cars. It was on the back half of the trail & there wasn't too much of a view of the actual canyons at this point, so it gave us something to check out until the trail headed back towards some better viewing areas. We had fun, I'll post about the hike soon! 

Beach house tour

So my big girls know I like to blog, and they decided they wanted to help me out. We were talking about my last blog post with the pictures of the beach, the next thing I know, they are walking around with my cell phone taking pictures of all the rooms in the beach house we stayed in with my parents. They wanted to "give a tour", with an added bonus of a few cute "selfies". It was quite a nice beach house, we fully enjoyed it....so....here you go......

AND...last but not least, K Man and Missa's room. We pushed the beds together so they could snuggle. And so lil' Missa didn't fall out! ;)

Hope you enjoyed Emma & Bella's photo tour! They sure enjoyed taking all the pictures, and of course, the "selfies". They had a fabulous time at the beach house! Destin is beautiful and we hope to get down to the gulf as many times as we possibly can before we head back to the great north!
