lil make overs, room by room...The Mudroom

So I was thinking I should do a Christmas blog, and then saw these pictures I had saved in "the cloud". I figured I should do this one first, since I have been meaning to for awhile now! I mean I did paint the room before Thanksgiving and all!! Ummm which reminds me... I haven't blogged Thanksgiving either. What a Slacker!!
I've been a huge blog slacker and actually, I'm pretty sure I've said that a few times in my last few posts. Haha.... since they have been few and far between.

OK... enough about that....

Back to my mudroom! When we bought this house a little over a year ago, every wall was white. I can't complain, that made it much easier. No painting over crazy colors I didn't like, I could slowly decide what color I wanted where. Slowly being key ;) seeing it's been a little over a year and I have painted the living room, one wall in my lil man's room and one wall in Missa's room....and now my mudroom.

I've been in love with deep blues and grey lately... and even though the area is fairly small, it gets really good light the first half of the day, so I wasn't worried about a darker color. PLUS, I don't spend ALL day in the mudroom anyway, so really, I just wanted a color I liked... not based on the lighting. It isn't completely closed off either, there is a hall but no door, so it's open into the small hall that leads to our kitchen. My point, i picked a color because I liked it, not because of how dark or light the room would be :)

So here is the white mudroom.....

Plain right!? I was just tired of white. It's bright, that's for sure! But I needed something new, and I wanted something a lil more homey and warm. So I chose Grizzly Grey. It is actually like a dark smokey blue in my opinion. I love it!

I left the wall leading into the hall/kitchen, white. Since later I want to paint the kitchen and I haven't decided on a color yet....First I need my new counter tops...someday ;)  I also painted the shelves and coat hook. They were left here by the previous owner, you can see they were a dark wood stain in the original pics. Well, just the hook one is still on the wall I guess now that I look, but they were both the wood color, and I painted them a creamy antique white color. (same color I painted my kitchen cabinets actually.... which reminds me, one day...maybe when I get those counter tops, I need to blog that too! ;) )

Here are some more of my blue/grey mudroom......

My girls made the two wreaths. Love them! They used sticks and twigs from the woods and carefully bent them and twisted them into a pretty rustic wreath. One on the window and one on the wall :)

Eventually we are going to switch out the light fixture. we aren't in love with the gold candle. I don't mind the candle look, but I'm not into the gold. More of a black or even darker brown, with less shine, would be more up my alley. No rush on it though, when ever we get to it. Im just happy to have light ;) Also the plan is for my man to build me a bench to go under the shelf with hooks in this last picture. Just something simple, but I'm still searching pinterest for some ideas. ;) Typically those hooks are filled with back packs ;) I took this while they were all at school though.  There was also a curtain left there on the skinny window by the previous owner, however it was a green and white check, so I took it down when I painted. I don't mind it without a curtain but I may get one someday. we'll see.

I love it though!! I'm really enjoying the color! Im a fan of warmer colors, and this shade is perfect for this spot in my eyes. LOVE!! Gives a nice warm feeling when you walk in from the garage, which is the way we ALWAYS come in. We hardly ever use the other doors! Even the pizza delivery guys have learned we open the garage and turn the garage lights on for them to come that way...because nine times out of ten, that door leading outside, is completely blocked by a line of shoes! ;)

So that's my mudroom makeover, and I love it!

Family Pictures

One thing I really love to do, is get our family pictures taken every fall. Fall is my favorite time of year, and it's a good time to get it all done..... A family shot, and each kid updated! I can't stand the school pictures, they are so expensive and never turn out quite how I'd like. I mean, the fake tree's and bridge over a creek background, are cute and all.... but I prefer the real deal!

Last fall we didn't do it... I did my own little session, and honestly i thought they came out pretty darn good of the kids! We never ordered any for the wall though, or had a family pic. So we were due!

A sweet friend of mine agreed to come up to our home and do a session for us by the rail road tracks, river and awesome old mill buildings with graffiti. We love the spot, it is so pretty.....and fun for the session! We walk down here a lot, since it is steps from our yard!!! We fell in love and thought it would be the perfect spot for a shoot!

We had a blast! Laughed.... got lot's of smiles... and goofy moments...and she just captured us, and we love them! Of course narrowing it down for the wall is hard! I have all ready ordered my first set of Christmas cards though ;) I always order many lil batches of cards from all different places with deals I find. 10 free here... 40% off here..... so I never have a stack of just one card, there are many! Its fun :)

I have to share a few pics from our shoot... because, well...what would a blog post be without pics....and because they are worth sharing and what's the point of having a great family session, if you aren't going to share!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you my friend for capturing the true us!

Hello Blog, my old friend....

Well it has definitely been too long since I have blogged. **insert sad face**
Excuses?? No..... not really.
WELL.... hold on, kinda, I do kind of have an excuse. It's Jamberry! At the beginning of this year I decided to do something I never thought I would do, ever. I decided to become an Independent Jamberry consultant. SO, on February 1st, I did it! I launched my business and it has been quite amazing!
So, my "spare time" .... you know, ALL that spare time a mom of 4 has, HAHA. Some of it is spent working on my business. Notice I said "some". That's part of the beauty of Jamberry, I don't let it consume ALL of my spare time. My running motto has been, I do NOT work for Jamberry, Jamberry works for ME! :) Yes!
I honestly decided to join the company because I love the product. I have 3 daughters, and we wanted more Jams, so yeah! I thought, well... if I can make my starter kit money back ($99) then I'm good. Guess what!!?? I made that back in the 1st 2 days of launching my business, how awesome is that! Guess what else!!?? I made grocery money... and More!
Not only that, but since then, I have grown my business, I have made some great friends through my customers and my team. I have ladies who are completely dedicated to me as their consultant and they have referred friends and family, and helped make it so much fun! They are like cheerleaders on my Facebook business page. They are awesome! .......And the team!!!! My up line AND down line, I can't say enough about these girls... always helping each other out, always sharing ideas and always praising each other. It's great, simply great!
So, I recently promoted to Senior Lead Consultant, AND I have My.Own.Team!!! How Cool is THAT!? My up line, my sponsor, her sponsor and their teams, have helped to get me where I am.....My down line (my team!) are keeping me going, and they totally rock!

SO... anyway... on that note! I do want to get back to my blogging, if anything, just for me...because I love it. I also love Jamberry and I'd love to share some of my personal "Jam-icures" with you since we are on topic ;) (Just note, not all these wraps are still available, some are from the last catalog, I just liked them, they were fun and I wanted to share )

Thanks for supporting my new adventure! sarawashburn.jamberry.com  is my Independent consultant website, for ordering, requesting to host a party, or joining my team!
