My man is at work, B is napping and the three big kids are at vacation bible school for the morning. I have been sitting here catching up on blogs and have found a few new ones.
Have you ever sat and really thought about how truly blessed you are!? I think sometimes our daily lives get away from us, we get caught in the day to day routines and don't really stop to reflect. I guess I just had a "reflective" moment. Reading through some blogs, reading other people's stories, their ups and downs and their un-answered prayers. Yes "Un-answered". We seem to focus on the negative. Like "why me God?"... we get angry when our prayers aren't answered right away or at least in some sort of timely manor. When really, maybe they are going un-answered for a reason. Trust me I have had my share of "un-answered" prayers, and without them I wouldn't be where I am today.
So after reading through some blogs, I gave myself a moment to sit and thank God for those... and to thank him for the direction he sent me instead.
We have had our share of ups and downs, and of course we get upset when things don't go the way we were praying they would go. We just have to trust in God that he knows best and he is leading us in a different direction.... one that is better for us.
We prayed and prayed about B's heart condition... when we were first informed of what would come next we were overwhelmed. It was all thrown at us in about 20 mins. Of course we would have some more appointments very soon to figure out the "exact case scenario". The initial thoughts were, surgery asap. That can certainly send you for a loop! I have never learned more in one night then I did when I went home and found out everything I need to know about the heart. Man if only I could have learned that fast/good in high school ;)
Of course over the next month our prayers were re-routed and changed. We learned we would be waiting for surgery, we would be having follow up appointments every 6 months and take it step by step. God works in mysterious ways, and I think we needed to be sent for a loop... we needed to soak it in and learn what we could.... B is a spunky girl and always will be. God reminds us of that on a daily basis ;)
Anyways... my point is, I was reading about a family who was actually praying for God to take their daughter. To end her pain and just take her. Later they were informed, what they originally were told was wrong, and that she does have a fighting chance. Their prayers quickly changed to "Thank you God for NOT taking her!"
Those prayer changes can be big and small. No matter what, they are always pretty amazing..(I think so anyway) Like just a few weeks ago, at bedtime, K and I would pray that when he went for his x-ray he would be healed and be able to have his cast taken off. Well.... that wasn't the case, he wasn't quite healed. Although he loved picking out another color for the new cast (which was also waterproof!)
Two weeks later we went back and the Dr. said that he had amazing healing! You would never know it was ever fractured in two places! See... we just needed that little extra time, and God would shine through!
So when people tell me they Don't believe there really is a God, or they are just not sure what to think, I tell them they need to slow down. They are trying to rush things, God doesn't rush. Like I said, he works in mysterious ways, and sometimes that can take time. It's us who need to slow down and try not to be so selfish. :)

So K has another cast... we went for x-rays the other day and they showed that it wasn't quite healed all the way. So he is sporting blue this time, and waterproof! I didn't know they made waterproof casts.... AWESOME! Makes things so much easier.... especially when its hot and he wants to join the kids in the sprinkler. Not to mention he takes after his father (yes his father....) and LOVES his tubbies!! he could sit in there for ever and play.
Those black lines would be Missa's signature
B had her 6 month follow up appointment with her cardiologist. Things don't look much different and we are able to hold off on any kind of medications at this point. (Phew!) We go back again in 6 months. Some have asked us if it is healing.... her heart condition will not heal it self, it will only get worse. Her Dr. told us to expect medication & surgery in her childhood years. We just continue to pray and thank God that for now she has the green light...to run and be her wild and crazy, spunky little self!
Our girls last day of first grade was this past Friday the 8th! Can't believe I now officially have 2 second graders, AND a preschooler!! For now though... bring on summer vacation!
We are still working on our home projects. Like the playroom I still haven't finished. At least it is neat and tidy at this point.... however we've been spending time outside, it will get done before winter ;) The deck is usable and looks great... just needs the steps (we have the old ones rigged up for the time being) and needs to be sealed. He(as I posted before) had his A.T. which was 3 weeks this time, and is now working 3-11 for a few weeks. So his projects are on pause mode until his schedule changes back... or we have a free weekend. Looking at our calendar for the summer, those free weekends are looking pretty scarce. it's going to be a busy one!
Oh and my husband, when he does have free time, would rather play with the kids..... OR........ their toys ;)
It's all in good fun!
