We packed up and got in the car as soon as everyone was home from school Friday. Daddy got out at 2 that day, so we were able to get on the road quick.
When we pulled into where the beach house is Grammy & Grampa happened to be just finishing up a walk (They got there earlier that morning) We didn't want the kids to see them just yet, so we had them all look out the other side of the car and help find house #4444. They were all counting houses and watching for numbers...all except little Missa Bryn, who spotted Grammy & Grampa....BUT she didn't say anything right away, she waited until we pulled into the drive way and everyone was unbuckling. Then she blurted out..."GUYS!!! I saw Grammy & Grampa walking!!" Everyone immediately gave us perplexed little hopeful grins. We tried to convince Bryn she was nuts, I mean that would be a reeeeaaalllly long walk from NH! ;) Kale was the next to spot them, he bolted out of the car and down the drive way as fast as he could, with all three girls following behind him!
We toured the beach house and then walked around the corner to the beach! AHHHH PERFECT!!!!
We played on the beach for a little while and enjoyed the beautiful sunset! It really is so amazing every time you see it!
The kids found a crab on our back up the boardwalk. They weren't expecting it, they were actually pretty excited about the cool shell they found. Then Kale picked it up and it moved catching him by surprise and causing him to drop/toss the shell. When they realized what it was they all wanted to check it out.
We spent the next day on the beach and then headed to the Destin board walk. (Which is so beautiful!)
Of course it is still March, so although the air was warm and the day was gorgeous, the water was still a bit on the chilly side. Not too bad once you stood in it for a bit, but not as warm as it was last time we swam in the gulf before winter!
Considering it is Spring break, it was really pretty quiet! The beach was nice and relaxing and there really were hardly any people. It was nice!!
They LOVED it!
Later on the board walk we drooled over yachts, watched the pelicans wait for their share of the fish from the fishing charters, and enjoyed some seafood for dinner.
Ryan had to get back for classes, So him and I drove back home Sunday evening. The kids stayed with Grammy & Grampa to spend some time with them. They have been having fun, going for walks, swimming, checking out a State park and eating ice cream of course! Ryan and I enjoyed some alone time for a little bit, and I will head back to the beach :) in the morning and spend a few days again with them before Grammy & Grampa head back to the north.
We are blessed to be able to get these special visits in.... and in such beautiful places!
