slushy day turns out O.K. ;)

Last night our 3 "big" kids packed up ALL their gear, and went to spend the night at Grammy & Grampas house. When I say "all" their gear... i do not exaggerate. One night, 3 kids, & 9 bags later!! Ok, two of those were back packs since there was technically school today, and then of course 2 more bags with snow gear for recess at school. Each kid insists on packing their little suit cases, and of course then we need clothes.....so yes, Nine bags!
Due to the freezing rain mix we had over night and into the morning, there was a 2 hr. delay for school. Well, since Grammy had to go to work and Grampa just had his truck... the girls scored a free pass and got to stay home with Grampa and K man and play all day. Although they love school, I'm pretty sure they were not sad ;)

We were up and out of the house early this morning (to head into Boston Children's Hospital) for Missa's cardiology appt.  Anticipating traffic and a potentially messy commute, we were on the road by 7:15. Thankfully the roads were pretty much just wet and the drive went fine. Until we were about 10 minutes from the hospital... we hit some traffic. Really it was fine... my husband just HATES any kind of traffic and had his own little melt down... it's all good, he managed to keep a smile on his face and I kept my mouth shut and we made it there by 9 with a stop at Gourmet Donuts on the way.  :)

So little Missa was once again, such a good patient. Sitting perfectly still for everything. It was in-between appointments when we had to chase her around he waiting room. She was so cute though in her little hospital gown and fuzzy pink boots.

After going over everything with the Dr. The conclusion is that she will go back in 6 months. She will be monitored every 6-12 months after that as well for life. As far as heart surgery, we take it one appointment at a time and follow the progression of her heart condition. It is inevitable that it will worsen, it is just a matter of how long. There are so many things they watch for each time she goes in and of course things we watch for as well. One way to explain it is... they measure the size of the swollen valve. Surgery is typically done when the valve is swollen to 5cm, right now hers is swollen to 2cm.  So we pray that in 6 months things go well. For now she is free to be her typical spunky self..... and for that we are Thankful!!

We headed home and it was pouring SO hard in Boston. Crazy for January! Got a little slushier as we got closer to home. We picked up the big kids from Grammy & Grampa's and unpacked their 9 bags! Had some dinner then the kids ran around, and around, and around. They had some energy to burn..... the running must have worked because they all fell asleep fairly quick. Not before they stopped to warm their buns by the fire though......
